Mr McKinnell is Founder and Managing Director of the Real Estate Academy in China (REACh) and REACh Asia which primarily focuses on Executive and Professional Development Training for Real Estate & Construction Professionals and Organisations across APAC. The Academy is currently based in Hong Kong and offers an array of programmes in conjunction with international professional bodies (ULI, APM, RICS, PRRES, IFMA) from short-course specialist programmes, to tailor-made in-house programmes, to study programmes overseas. The Academy has also developed Joint Ventures with overseas Universities to initiate and deliver a number of post-graduate programmes from PGCert to PGDip to MSc/MBA in the Real Estate & Construction domain.
He has held a number of Visiting Academic positions including at the University of Chongiing and Tongji University in China as well as previously being Principal Fellow and Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne in Australia and serving as Distinguished Visiting Professor at the RICS School of the Built Environment in India. He is currently teaching and managing programmes on behalf of the University of Aberdeen’s Business School in the UK in their collaborative venture with South China Normal University’s International Business College in Foshan.
Prior to setting up the REACh concept, Keith was Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Department of Real Estate & Construction at the University of Hong Kong and was Head of that Department for over a decade. He taught at HKU for over 25 years.
Professionally he is a member of the RICS; a Fellow of the HKIS and a registered professional surveyor (RPS); a founding member of the China Housing Industry Association and was previously a member of the Town Planning Board of the HKSAR.
For many years, he has delivered lectures and talks to students primarily in university postgraduate degree programmes with audiences coming from Master degrees and MBAs offered by institutions such as Aberdeen & Glasgow Universities in the UK, IREBS in Germany, NICMAR & Amity Universities in India, Tsinghua, Tongji, Tianjin & Chongqing Universities + SCNU in the PRC and Melbourne University, RMIT & UTS in Australia.
