A Warm Welcome: Tea Reception Connects New Mainland Students with Faculty

(只提供英文版本)

On the morning of 11 September, our department hosted a tea reception to welcome our new cohort of mainland students. Held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, the event provided a relaxed and friendly setting for students and faculty members to connect and get to know each other better.

Around 30 mainland students joined the reception, which began with warm welcome remarks from the department head. This was followed by a helpful presentation delivered in Mandarin by one of our colleagues, covering key school regulations and academic requirements — an important and reassuring session for students adjusting to a new academic environment.

The highlight of the reception, however, was the informal interaction between students and teachers over tea and cakes. Laughter and conversation filled the room as both sides engaged in open and friendly dialogue. Many students took the opportunity to share their aspirations and the challenges they’ve encountered so far. Teachers responded with encouragement, practical advice, and a genuine willingness to support.

The session officially ended with a group photo to capture the moment, but the room remained lively as several students lingered to continue the conversation with faculty members. It was clear that the event succeeded not only in providing useful information but also in fostering a sense of community and support — a promising start to the academic journey ahead.
