  • EAF Public Lecture by Governor Holzman

    Dr. Robert Holzmann, governor of the Austrian Central Bank, gave a public lecturer on “Unconventional Monetary Policy under Review: Intentions, Results, and Alternatives” at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong on 13 June 2025. In the public lecture, governor Holzmann  discussed the intentions, effectiveness, and options of the unconventional monetary policy in the Euro area and beyond.

    The successful event was jointly organized by the Department of Economics and Finance of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Austrian Consulate General, and Advantage Austria Hong Kong.

    The distinguished guests who joint the event included Dr. Gerhard Zett (the Austrian Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao), Prof. Joshua Mok Ka-ho (Provost and Vice-President of Academic and Research at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong), Prof. Jeanne Fu Hoying (Vice-President of Learning and Student Experience at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong), and Dr. Hongyi Chen (Senior Adviser at the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary and Financial Research, Hong Kong Monetary Authority), as well as faculty members and students. Prof. Joshua Mok gave the welcoming and opening remarks.

    After the thought stimulating public lecture, a tea reception was held, where three groups of undergraduate students from the Department of Economics and Finance presented the findings from their research projects using poster presentations. They discussed the findings with the governor and the other guests, and  received useful feedback.
