Elaine is a strategic Human Resources leader with experience spanning public-sector workforce strategy, HR business partnering, organization development, digital transformation, data literacy, learning, talent and leadership development, resourcing, and HR corporate governance. Her career has covered financial services in the HSBC Group including Asia Pacific HR leadership and serving as MD and Head of HR at Hang Seng Bank from 2009 to 2023; energy and petrochemicals with bp Ltd (formerly Amoco Corporation and British Petroleum) from 1992 to 2008; and, since 2024, education and NGO advisory work. Elaine has worked across Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, Chicago, London, Shanghai, and the wider Asia Pacific region. Today, Elaine brings her business and corporate HR experience to education, research and social impact through university teaching and mentoring, HR research supervision, education advisory work, and her doctoral research.
