Biography

Dr. Sophia Chiyoung Cheong holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a BBA from Sungkyunkwan University. Her research spans corporate finance, investment, financial intermediation, and ESG/SRI, and has earned recognition including Best Paper at the 2023 Cornell ESG Investing Research Conference, the JDQS Best Paper Award, and semifinalist honors for the FMA Best Paper Award. She has received several research grants including the Mirae Asset Management Research Grant, and teaches financial markets, corporate finance, and algorithmic trading. She is fluent in English, French, and Korean and proficient in Stata, SAS, R, and Python.
