Programme Highlights

The Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Financial Analysis and Fintech Programme aims to prepare graduates with knowledge in both Financial Analysis and FinTech, allowing them to integrate with the competitive finance industry. A major focus of the programme is on the application of FinTech, artificial intelligence, big data analytics and blockchain. In addition, the programme closely follows the core competency of the recognised professional standard known as the “Chartered Financial Analyst Program Candidate Body of KnowledgeTM”. It equips students with core financial analytical skills to take professional qualification examinations and become effective investment professionals with essential FinTech knowledge.

Programme Objectives

Upon completion of the programme, students are expected to:

  • develop students’ analytical power, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability;
  • cultivate students’ communication, interpersonal, leadership, and transferable skills as well as the desire for independent learning so they can continue their professional and personal development and/or further studies;
  • instill in students a strong sense of social responsibility and high commitment to professional ethics;
  • arouse students’ awareness of global issues and developments;
  • provide students with the practical knowledge and authentic skills necessary in the global investment profession;
  • develop students’ financial analytical ability to evaluate alternatives rationally for the purpose of decision making; and
  • enable students to appreciate the interface between financial analysis, financial technology and other areas in economics, management, investments, financial markets, international finance, financial services, and corporate strategy.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes

  • address professional and personal challenges through the application of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary knowledge acquired;
  • possess effective communication ability in a business environment, work as a team player to integrate effectively the skills and knowledge developed, and be able to manage independent lifelong learning;
  • evaluate own contributions and responsibilities in becoming responsible employees, business leaders and business partners;
  • possess a broad horizon and be inquisitive about various global issues and developments such as politics, culture, social sciences and technology;
  • possess a body of specialised knowledge and skill-set that enable them to seek challenging careers in the era of economic liberalisation and globalisation;
  • possess the ability to develop a framework for financial analysis and evaluate alternatives for the purpose of making informed decisions;
  • develop insights into practical applications of financial analysis and technology in a dynamic business environment.

Academic Structure

Bachelor of Business in Administration (Honours) in Financial Analysis and FinTech is a four-year programme. There are two semesters of 15 weeks per year. Each module consists of three credits (except three English modules with two credits each); each credit consists of a minimum of 15 contact hours. Students are required to study at least 41 modules and 120 credits in total.

  • ENG3002 English for Professional Communication is mandatory for all Year-3 entrants starting from AY2022/23.
  • GEN2004 Business Ethics is a required module for BBA-FAFT students to fulfill graduation requirements.
  • The number of modules for Year-3 entrants may take can vary. Credit transfer may be granted for modules successfully completed at other accredited tertiary institutions.

Professional Recognition / Connection

CFA University Affiliation Programme
The curriculum of our BBA (Hons) in Financial Analysis and FinTech programme incorporates a significant percentage of the CFA Program CBOK, including the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. Our students are exposed to the topics covered in the CFA Program, enhancing their preparation to sit for the CFA examinations upon graduation. Hence, with BBA (Hons) in Financial Analysis programme, HSUHK is one of Recognised Universities under the CFA University Recognition Program.

Professional Bodies Recognition
