The Department of Economics and Finance facilitated a Career Talk titled “Your Fast Track to the Banking Industry” delivered by The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) to help students explore banking career pathways and professional qualifications.
The talk featured two distinguished speakers: Dr Kate Kwan, Senior Manager at HKIB, and Mr Teddy Chow, Head of the Digital Banking Transformation Office at Chong Hing Bank Limited. Dr Kwan introduced how selected BBA-Finance and Banking (BBA-FB) modules at HSUHK are recognized for exemption in HKIB’s professional qualification pathway towards becoming a Certified Banker, and shared insights from her prior roles at leading investment banks such as JP Morgan and Société Générale. Mr Chow drew on more than twenty years of industry experience to discuss the latest developments in digital banking, including applications of AI, tokenization, and data analytics in transforming banking services and operations.
As one of the featured events of the HSUHK Career Fair 2026, the session attracted strong attendance from students keen to learn from practitioners’ real-life experiences and career journeys. The speakers offered practical advice on building a career in the banking sector, from acquiring relevant technical knowledge and professional qualifications to embracing innovation and lifelong learning. The event underscored the university’s commitment to equipping students with both academic foundations and industry-recognized credentials, strengthening the employability of BBA-FB graduates in the evolving banking landscape.
