HSUHK School of Business Students Explore GBA’s Innovation Hub – Where Classroom Learning Meets Real-World Impact

The School of Business (SBUS)’s exclusive Greater Bay Area (GBA) Study Tour concluded successfully on 9 January 2026! Over four days and three nights, a group of enthusiastic SBUS undergraduate students embarked on a transformative journey across Macau, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, gaining immersive insights into the GBA’s dynamic business landscape, cutting-edge technological innovation, and sustainable development practices.

A Journey of Discovery: Key Highlights

Designed to bridge academic theories with real-world business scenarios, the tour brought students face to face with iconic industry leaders and academic institutions, offering firsthand exposure to the GBA’s integrated economic and innovation ecosystem:

  • University Exchanges: Students connected with peers and faculty at University of Macau and Shenzhen University, fostering academic partnerships and cultural exchanges that lay the groundwork for future collaborations.
  • Meet with GBA Business Leaders:  The tour included a visit to HSUHK’s Nansha facility, where students met with GBA senior business leaders from Infinitus (Lee Kum Kee Health Products) and Tendzone China  for interactive talks covering topics from cross-border business opportunities to talent development and challenges in the region.
  • Visit to Macao Water Supply Company: Students toured the sustainable infrastructure and facilities to learn about Macao’s water resource management and wastewater treatment technologies, emphasizing environmental sustainability. Insights from industry experts highlighted how public utilities balance operational efficiency with environmental responsibility – critical lessons for future business leaders focused on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) best practices.
  • DJI Drone Experience Centre (Shenzhen): As a global leader in civilian drones and creative imaging technology, DJI opened its doors to students, showcasing how relentless innovation drives market leadership. Students witnessed live demonstrations, explored R&D processes, and learned how tech startups scale in the highly competitive GBA market.
  • Alibaba Shenzhen: At the Southern China headquarters of one of the world’s largest e-commerce and technology conglomerates, students gained exclusive insights into Alibaba’s company culture, digital ecosystem, business model, and strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Zhuhai Space Center: A highlight for tech enthusiasts, the center illustrated how aerospace technology intersects with commercial applications—from satellite services to sustainable technology collaborations. Students learned about the GBA’s role as a hub for high-tech industry synergy and cross-sector innovation.

The GBA is one of Asia’s most dynamic economic hubs, attracting global investors and entrepreneurs. For our SBUS students, this tour was more than just a field trip. Through this immersive experience, they not only broadened their horizons but also enhanced their readiness to thrive in the increasingly interconnected business landscape of the Greater Bay Area.
