MKT Guest Lecture – Sponsorship Marketing & Management of Mega Events

On March 5, over 70 marketing students attended a very meaningful and useful seminar on sponsorship marketing featuring Ms. Tracy Wong, Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications at Special Olympics Asia Pacific, who traveled from Singapore to Hong Kong to share her experience.

The session, supported by the Service Learning Section of the Center of Teaching and Learning, went beyond traditional marketing strategies. While students gained practical insights into conducting fundraising activities and building corporate partnerships, they also discovered the deeper purpose behind Special Olympics’ work.

Ms. Wong introduced students to the organization’s powerful motto: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Through this lens, students explored how marketing can advance social inclusion and create meaningful impact for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The seminar demonstrated how purpose-driven marketing connects business objectives with social responsibility, a valuable lesson for future marketing professionals.
