What is Corporate Governance?
Corporate Governance refers to the system by which companies are directed and controlled. Since the outburst of the global financial crisis and financial reporting scandals, the significance of corporate governance has received increasing attention from the public, the professions and governments. The responsibility of corporate governance rests with the company’s board of directors and corporate officers. Through providing guidance to the board on various corporate governance issues, corporate governance professionals play important roles in guiding, administering and reviewing the board’s performance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


Programme Objectives
The Programme aims at providing students with necessary knowledge so that graduates are prepared for career development as corporate governance and compliance professionals. Upon completion of the BBA-CGC, graduates will be able to develop a good understanding of the laws and regulations in corporate governance and assist the board of directors in implementing an effective compliance system. Our goal is to nurture graduates with entrepreneurial spirit and a strong foundation in laws, regulations and the practice of compliance.

- possess broad horizons and be inquisitive about various global issues and developments such as politics, cultures, social sciences and technologies;
- demonstrate an understanding of the laws and regulations in corporate governance as well as international best practices for the purpose of regulatory compliance;
- integrate, research and apply knowledge of good corporate governance practices and implement a regulatory compliance system in support of board functions;
- and identify the roles and responsibilities of corporate officers and perform with a sense of ethicality and professionalism.

Academic Structure
BBA (Hons) in Corporate Governance and Compliance is a four-year programme. Students are required to take a total number of 41 modules with 3 credits each (except 3 English modules with 2 credits each). These include 16 modules in Common Core Curriculum , 10 modules in Business Education, 11 modules in Specialties in Corporate Governance and Compliance, and 4 Free Elective modules.

Senior-year entrants will be granted a block credit transfer for their prior studies on an individual basis. The number of modules to be taken may vary.
**2022 Year 3 intake students are also required to take ENG3002 English for Professional Communication apart from the aforementioned academic structure. **

The exemptions a graduate could gain from the professional examinations are dependent on the accredited courses taken in the programme.

Recently there has been a global effort to strengthen corporate governance and compliance with the goal of combatting fraudulent activities and detecting financial crimes including money laundering. As a result, there is an increasing demand for qualified personnel who have a good understanding in laws and regulations and who are able to assist the board of directors in implementing an effective governance system. We have a newly-launched internship programme with a leading Hong Kong business services firm to employ our students during their studies and after graduation.
