Programme Overview
The BBA (Hons) in Professional Accountancy equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for professional careers in accounting and related fields. The curriculum covers financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, law, financial management, ESG, ethics, contemporary computer technology and accounting information systems. Most of our teachers are qualified accountants with practical industry experience. Our graduates receive exemptions from various professional examinations.
Students benefit from mentorship, local and overseas internships, and alumni networking. Coaching by teachers for professional competitions enhances their confidence and skills. Graduates are well-regarded by employers, with many working in accounting firms, financial institutions, management trainee programmes, or pursuing further studies.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Programme, students should be able to:
- address professional and personal challenges through the application of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary knowledge acquired;
- possess effective communication ability in a business environment, work as team players to integrate effectively the skills and knowledge developed, and manage independent lifelong learning;
- evaluate own contributions and responsibilities in becoming responsible employees, business leaders and business partners;
- possess broad horizons and be inquisitive about various global issues and developments such as politics, cultures, social sciences and technologies;
- have a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge in accountancy in the first two years of studies, on which to build further studies; and
- acquire a broader knowledge relating to advanced concepts in accountancy in the final two years and apply such knowledge to practical situations.

Academic Structure
BBA (Hons) in Professional Accountancy is a four-year programme. Students are required to take a total number of 41 modules with 3 credits each (except 3 English modules with 2 credits each). These include 16 modules in the Common Core Curriculum, 10 modules in Business Education, 12 modules in the Specialty in Professional Accountancy, and 3 Free Elective modules.

Senior-year entrants will be granted a block credit transfer for their prior studies on an individual basis. The number of modules to be taken may vary.
**2022 Year 3 intake students are also required to take ENG3002 English for Professional Communication apart from the aforementioned academic structure. **
Professional Recognition
The Department of Accountancy has established strong relations with local and international professional bodies. Accreditation and exemption, subject to regular reaccreditation, have been obtained from the following professional bodies:
- The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA)
- The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- CPA Australia
- The Taxation Institution of Hong Kong (TIHK)
The exemptions a graduate could gain from the professional examinations are dependent on the accredited courses taken in the programme.
