EAF Student Trio Triumphs at Prestigious Cyberport FinTech Competition

A team comprising students from the BBA-Financial Analysis and FinTech (BBA-FAFT) Programme, a representative from the FinTech team of the Department of Economics and Finance (EAF), as well as a student from the University of Hong Kong, has achieved outstanding success at the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) 2025, a flagship initiative nurturing Hong Kong’s next generation of tech entrepreneurs.

The team, ‘Crux ESG by CoreFlow’, impressed judges with their RegTech project, an innovative Regulatory Technology solution that leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automate and streamline sustainability regulatory reporting for businesses.

Their journey began by being shortlisted in the top 20 from across Hong Kong, earning them a place at a 10-day entrepreneurship boot camp at Draper University in Silicon Valley. Their performance secured a top five finish at the ‘Boot Camp Mock Pitching Competition’ and won them the ‘Most Collaborative Team Award’, voted for by all participating university’s representatives and Cyberport senior management.

The project was ultimately awarded the Championship, securing HK$100,000 in seed funding from the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) for prototype development.

The team extends its deepest gratitude to their supervisor, Dr Andy Cheng from EAF, for his invaluable professional advice, expertise, and unwavering supervision throughout the entire competition. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the University’s leadership in promoting cutting-edge FinTech education and the successful development of the initiatives in this critical field.
