The School of Business is committed to nurturing professionally competent, ethically grounded and industry-ready graduates. In line with this mission, the School has identified the need for consistent, structured mechanisms to bridge classroom learning with real-world practice, enabling students to develop professional skills and industry networks that support their seamless transition from university to the workforce.
According to our employer survey, core workplace competencies – including communication, teamwork, professionalism and adaptability – are consistently highlighted as essential for graduate hires. Employers also emphasise the significant value of prior internship or mentorship experience, which directly strengthens students’ competitiveness when seeking employment upon graduation.
To address existing gaps in equitable access to quality experiential learning, the School implemented the Work-Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) and Mentorship Programme (MP) as mandatory graduation requirements for all new intakes of AY2026/27. This formalised, school-wide framework ensures that every SBUS student gains meaningful experiential learning and mentorship opportunities prior to graduation, equipping them to be competitive, well-prepared and career-ready professionals.
Student Intake Cohort
The requirement will be rolled out progressively by student intake cohort:
- Year 1 entry (4-year curriculum): effective from AY2026/27 intake onwards
- Year 2 entry (senior year entry): effective from AY2027/28 intake onwards
- Year 3 entry (senior year entry): effective from AY2028/29 intake onwards

Grading
Complete / Incomplete (with no effect on GPA score), a “Complete” grade is considered to be a graduation requirement of the student.
