Professional Recognition and Exemptions
The Master of Science in Corporate Governance with Sustainability programme (MSc-ICGS) is currently applying for the Collaborative Course Agreement (CCA) with The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI). Subject to final approval and successful accreditation, graduates of the programme are expected to be eligible for full exemption from the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP). This programme is designed for applicants who wish to obtain the HKCGI professional qualification with dual designations of Chartered Secretary (CS) and Chartered Governance Professional (CGP).
Programme Objectives
- Provide students with up-to-date knowledge about the legal and compliance aspects of company affairs in both local and international contexts, enabling them to skilfully navigate complex regulatory environments and meet the increasing expectations of shareholders and stakeholders worldwide;
- Enhance students’ proficiency in international corporate governance and sustainability practices relevant to various sectors, including commercial enterprises, non-governmental organisations, family businesses and multinational corporations;
- Cultivate students’ knowledge and skills in integrating financial reporting, international tax systems and tax planning, strategic and risk management to foster good corporate governance, as well as ethical and sustainable business practices in diverse international settings;
- Provide students with knowledge of contemporary sustainability issues, and legal and corporate governance frameworks in Hong Kong, Chinese mainland, across Asia, and other key international jurisdictions; and
- Enhance students’ communication and interaction skills with internal and external stakeholders of organisations operating in both domestic and international environments.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to:
- demonstrate advanced proficiency in international corporate governance and sustainability practices to effectively navigate complex global regulatory frameworks and meet the evolving expectations of shareholders and stakeholders worldwide;
- apply enhanced credentials and expertise in international corporate governance and sustainability across diverse sectors, including commercial enterprises, non-governmental organisations, family businesses, and multinational corporations, to optimise organisational effectiveness and compliance;
- apply integrated knowledge of financial reporting, international tax systems and tax planning, strategic and risk management to foster good corporate governance, ethical and sustainable business practices in various international business contexts;
- understand the contemporary issues and developments in international corporate governance and sustainability within companies operating in Hong Kong, Chinese mainland, across Asia, and other key jurisdictions globally; and
- demonstrate strong communication and interaction skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders in both domestic and international environments, fostering relationships critical to organisational success and sustainability.
