MGT Korea Study Tour 2026

The Department of Management successfully organised a five-day Korea Study Tour to Seoul from 25 to 29 May 2026. The programme provided students with a valuable opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom through a carefully designed itinerary that integrated academic engagement, industry exposure, and cultural immersion.

Throughout the tour, students participated in a diverse range of activities that broadened their global perspectives and enriched their understanding of Korean society, economy, and culture.

Academic Exchange at Sejong University

A key highlight of the study tour was the visit to Sejong University. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the university campus and gain insights into the Korean higher education system.

The interaction with local students facilitated meaningful academic and cultural exchange, allowing participants to compare learning experiences and understand different educational approaches. This engagement encouraged students to develop a more global outlook and enhanced their cross-cultural communication skills.

Cultural Immersion through Homestay Experience

To deepen their understanding of Korean culture, students participated in a homestay programme with local families. This experience enabled students to immerse themselves in authentic daily life, including household routines, dining culture, and interpersonal communication.

The homestay not only provided a unique perspective on Korean society but also fostered meaningful connections between students and host families. Such first-hand cultural exposure played an important role in enhancing students’ intercultural awareness and adaptability.

Industry Exposure: Media and Brand Management

The study tour also incorporated visits to leading organisations, including the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and the globally renowned cosmetics company Amore Pacific.

At KBS, students gained an overview of media production and broadcasting operations. An interactive session allowed them to experience elements of television production, offering a practical understanding of the industry.

The visit to Amore Pacific provided insights into brand development and marketing strategies within the global cosmetics industry, enabling students to appreciate how Korean brands establish international presence and competitiveness.

Exploring Korean Heritage and Contemporary Culture

In addition to academic and industry-related activities, students engaged in a range of cultural experiences designed to enhance their appreciation of Korea’s heritage and modern lifestyle.

These activities included visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace while dressed in traditional hanbok, which offered a deeper understanding of Korea’s history and customs. Students also participated in a K-pop dance workshop, reflecting the influence of contemporary Korean popular culture.

Further activities included a visit to a rice farm, where students learned about agricultural practices and prepared traditional gochujang (Korean chilli paste). The group also visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), gaining important insights into the historical and geopolitical context of the Korean Peninsula.

The Korea Study Tour 2026 provided a well-rounded and enriching experience that combined academic learning, cultural exploration, and real-world exposure. Through the programme, students broadened their horizons, strengthened their global awareness, and developed valuable cross-cultural competencies.
