On 29 September, the Department of Marketing was honoured to host a special guest lecture titled “Food Sustainability: Rethinking Food for a Sustainable Future.” The event welcomed three distinguished speakers:
- Mr. Roz Ma Tsz Kin, Senior Service Manager (Charity Services), St. James’ Settlement
- Ms. Katrina Cheng, Manager of Education and Volunteer Engagement, Food Angel
- Ms. Carol Kwok, Project Manager, Food Commons Foundation
This guest lecture is part of a service-learning project offered by the BUS3003 Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications module, in collaboration with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The project is dedicated to producing fruitful, meaningful, and unforgettable service-learning experiences through original creative projects that apply academic knowledge to address community needs— thereby enhancing students’ sustainability awareness, educational and civic engagement. Recognizing the importance of food sustainability for future generations and the wider community, the Department of Marketing also embedded this vital theme into its semesterly Microfilm Competition for this project.
Over 100 students attended the session, actively engaging with the speakers and showing strong interest in participation. The guest lecture proved to be an eye-opening and enriching experience, allowing students to connect classroom learning with real-world insights. The Department extends its sincere gratitude to the guest speakers for their invaluable contributions and looks forward to further collaborative efforts that champion sustainability.
