Department of Accountancy conducted a 1-hour interactive class demonstration on financial accounting to students of Caritas Ma On Shan Secondary School on 2 July 2026. Dr Lawrence Lei led the session and introduced the fundamentals of accounting to the students.
Through lively discussions and real-life examples, including choosing a business structure for a bubble tea shop and analysing ethical dilemmas in financial reporting, students explored accounting as the “language of business”, the differences between financial and managerial accounting, the three main types of business entities, and key concepts such as the accounting equation and fundamental assumptions. Dr. Lei also emphasised the importance of ethical decision-making in professional practice.
The class demonstration successfully enhanced students’ understanding of accounting principles and inspired their interest in the accounting discipline.
