On 11 July 2025, the Start-up and SME Resource Centre (SSRC) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) launched the HSUHK Outstanding SME ESG and Business Performance Award 2025, a pioneering initiative that celebrates the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in driving both economic resilience and social responsibility.
This award recognises SMEs across Hong Kong that not only excel in business performance, but also demonstrate a genuine commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices—setting a powerful example of how business can be a force for good.
The 2025 award project is guided by Riskory Consultancy Limited as its technical advisor and supported by a wide network of organisations deeply rooted in social betterment, sustainability, and ethical enterprise. These include the Occupational Safety & Health Council; the Business Environment Council; the Equal Opportunities Commission; the Hong Kong Red Cross; the Hong Kong Business Ethics Development Centre; the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association; The Hong Kong Registered Contractors Association; the SME Sustainability Society; The Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business; the Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises; the SME Global Alliance; the Hong Kong Promotion Association For Small And Medium Enterprises; and the Chief Happiness Officer Association.
To further amplify awareness and foster dialogue, SSRC will host two key events:
- The HSUHK SME ESG and Green Business Opportunities Seminar – 26 September 2025
- The Business Performance Award Presentation Ceremony – 21 November 2025
