Department of Accountancy Kick-Starts 2026/27 Mentorship Programme to Empower Future Accounting Talent

The Department of Accountancy (ACY) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) successfully launched its annual ACY Mentorship Programme 2026/27 with a vibrant Kick-Off Event held on 10 October 2026. The event brought together undergraduate students and experienced industry professionals, marking the start of a year-long mentorship journey that bridges academic learning with practical professional practice. Running from September 2026 to August 2027, the initiative pairs Year 2 to Year 4 students with dedicated mentors from diverse sectors across the accounting profession.

The Kick-Off Event began with opening remarks from Ms. Joey Lee, Associate Head of the Department of Accountancy, followed by inspiring sharing sessions from 2025/26 mentees, who reflected on their valuable learning experiences and personal growth. To acknowledge their contributions, returning mentors were presented with certificates of appreciation, while new mentors received welcome gifts in recognition of their dedication to nurturing future accounting professionals.

During the event, students and mentors participated in interactive mentoring sessions. Through a structured rotation, mentors engaged with students across different academic years to share industry insights and offer career guidance. The event featured three thematic discussion rooms focused on pivotal career pathways: auditing practice, non-audit opportunities, and strategies for building a successful professional career in Hong Kong.

Following the networking session, mentors and mentees met with their assigned mentorship groups for the first time. Each mentor will guide two to three mentees from various study levels through flexible in-person or online meetings throughout the academic year. This structured collaboration enables students to sharpen their professional competencies, clarify career goals, and gain hands-on market perspectives.

The Department of Accountancy sincerely thanks all participating mentors for their generous support and dedication. The Department also appreciates the students’ enthusiastic participation and looks forward to fostering impact-driven mentorships and professional growth in the coming year.
