The BBA-FAFT Programme Office of the Department of Economics and Finance organised a Shenzhen Innovation Visit on 19 May 2026, offering students direct exposure to advanced developments in supercomputing and smart city technology.
The group visited two leading technology firms in the region:
- The National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen (國家超級計算深圳中心)
- Shenzhen Smart City & Big Data (深圳市智慧城市大數據中心有限公司)
At the National Supercomputing Center, they learned how super-performance computing supports research in artificial intelligence, finance, climate science, and biomedicine, and its role in driving innovation across industries. At Shenzhen Smart City & Big Data, students explored how data analytics is applied in urban management and public services to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
Through guided tours and discussions with industry professionals, students gained insights into the integration of technology and finance within the Greater Bay Area. The visit also helped them connect academic knowledge with real-world applications, particularly in understanding how big data and computing technologies underpin modern FinTech, which is one of the core features of the BBA-FAFT Programme.
This initiative reflects HSUHK’s commitment to enriching student learning by linking academic study with industry practice and preparing graduates to contribute to Hong Kong and the region’s development as a leading financial and technology hub.
