The School of Business at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong held a session of its Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series on 10 April 2026, bringing together over 300 attendees, including faculty members, students, and external guests, for a discussion on Hong Kong’s evolving role as an international financial centre.
The School was pleased to welcome Dr Rocky Tung, Executive Director of the Financial Services Development Council, as the distinguished speaker for this session. The event attracted strong interest from the University community and industry guests.
The session opened with welcoming remarks by Professor Sam Park, Distinguished University Professor and Dean of the School of Business. Professor Park introduced Dr Tung and shared his background in financial services development and policymaking, setting the scene for the discussion.
Dr Tung then delivered his sharing on the changing global financial environment and the challenges and opportunities facing Hong Kong. He discussed how the city is working to strengthen its competitive position and respond to increasing global uncertainty, offering students a clearer understanding of Hong Kong’s financial landscape and its future direction.
The sharing was followed by a Q&A session, moderated by Professor Park. Students actively participated by raising questions and engaging in dialogue with Dr Tung, gaining first‑hand insights into industry trends, policy considerations, and career development in the financial services sector.
