MKT – HSUHK x CTF Life AI+ Business Shared Value Hackathon: Empowering the Next Generation

On 27 June 2026, The MKT department, in collaboration with CTF Life,  hosted the AI+ Business Shared Value Hackathon, an inspiring event that brought together 10 teams of local high school students, each guided by HSUHK marketing students and alumni mentors, with close to 100 attendees in total. The Hackathon challenged participants to harness AI tools to generate creative business solutions that drive shared value, blending commercial viability with positive societal impact.

Strengthening School Partnerships and Alumni Ties

Moreover, with the support from the Hong Kong Extra-curricular Activities Masters’ Association and HKEEIA, we received enthusiastic sign-ups. This momentum opens exciting possibilities for expanding the Hackathon to welcome even more high schools in 2027.

Equally heartening was the alumni engagement. Nine recent graduates volunteered their time to serve as mentors, demonstrating that alumni are eager to return to campus not just as attendees, but as active contributors to meaningful initiatives. While this engagement was only extended to a limited circle, the positive response suggests that scaling up future events could draw broader alumni participation.  They were especially delighted to see the HSUHK Handas mascot, adding a warm and spirited touch to the event.

Deepening Industry Collaboration

Our partnership with CTF Life continues to develop. Beyond sponsoring half of the competition prizes, CTF Life also committed to offering guaranteed places in their summer U-Talent program for our student mentors, strengthening the bridge between academia and industry.

AI Literacy: A Core Competency

The judges were particularly impressed by the high school students’ fluency in using AI tools for image generation, idea development, and storyboarding. Their proficiency signals that AI literacy is already taking root at the secondary level, a promising indicator that HSUHK can confidently integrate AI elements into our curriculum.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, mentors, judges, and supporting organisations for making this Hackathon a resounding success. We look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
