The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong School of Business is preparing for the launch of its first Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) — MBA (C) — with a significant milestone: faculty members responsible for the programme have successfully completed a comprehensive series of pedagogical training workshops built around the Harvard Action Learning Approach (HALA).

The workshops covered both the concept and practical application of HALA, strengthening faculty’s ability to embed action-learning elements and mindset into the programme with emphasis on experiential learning, real-world business challenges, and reflective practice.
Programme Director on Building an Action Learning Culture

“Preparing our faculty for MBA (C) is not only about enhancing teaching techniques, but also about fostering a shared educational mindset,” said Professor Victor Lau, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Programmes) and Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) Programme Director. “Through HALA, we hope to create a learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, learn actively, and connect classroom knowledge with real business situations.”
Faculty Exchange and Reflective Practice
The workshops also provided valuable opportunities for faculty members to exchange ideas and reflect on effective teaching practices that support student learning in a dynamic and engaging way.

“Action learning is an important foundation of the MBA (C) programme,” Professor Lau added. “By equipping our faculty with the right pedagogical approach, we are laying the groundwork for a meaningful learning journey for our students and preparing them to become thoughtful and adaptable leaders.”

With the training series completed, the School is well positioned to welcome the first MBA (C) cohort with a faculty team committed to delivering impactful, practice-oriented learning experiences.
