This year, the Department of Management proudly collaborated with YMCAHK, offering HRM students a valuable opportunity to study employee engagement within selected departments. The students’ task was to identify the key drivers of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction and recommend tailored employee engagement strategies aligned with YMCAHK’s organisational culture. The goal was to enhance staff experience, improve retention, and foster long-term employer–employee relationships.
As part of the HRM3022 Human Resource Management (HRM) Consultancy Project, students began by attending workshops to build essential applied research and consulting skills at the start of the semester. They then submitted a detailed project proposal and engaged in ongoing communication with their tutors for guidance throughout the semester. To deepen their understanding, students visited YMCAHK’s Tsim Sha Tsui site on 12 March, gaining first-hand insights into the functions and dynamics of different staff teams. After rigorous research and analysis, the students presented their findings and recommendations directly to unit heads and relevant stakeholders at YMCAHK on 29 April.

Through this HRM3022 Consultancy Project, students applied practical research and consulting skills to deliver real-world HR solutions through detailed reports and formal presentations, demonstrating the impact of their work.
