HSUHK Successfully Hosted the 2026 Inter-University FinTech Innovation Competition

HSUHK Champion Team Emerges Victorious

The Centre for Global Finance & FinTech and the Department of Economics and Finance at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) is pleased to announce the successful hosting of the 3rd HSUHK Inter-University FinTech Innovation Competition 2026. The grand finale, final pitching day and the award presentation ceremony held on 29 May 2026, was a resounding success, highlighting the vibrant FinTech innovation ecosystem in Hong Kong.

The event was kicked off by Dr. Andy Cheng, the chair of the organising committee, also the Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance and the associate director of the Centre for Global Finance & FinTech. This was followed by a welcoming speech from Prof. Matousek Roman, Head and professor of Department of Economics and Finance and the director of the Centre for Global Finance & FinTech. who then invited Prof. Sam Park, the Distinguished University Professor and Dean of the School of Business of HSUHK to deliver the opening remarks. Six shortlisted teams then delivered strong pitches before an expert judging panel.

Six outstanding teams from six local universities were shortlisted from a competitive pool of submissions. After impressive on-stage pitching and evaluation by the expert judging panel, the HSUHK team was crowned the Overall Champion, receiving the trophy and winning cheque from Prof. Matousek Roman.

Event Highlights

This year’s competition revolved around the theme “Tokenization and Digital Assets Revolution”, exploring how tokenization of real-world assets and digital money can drive the next wave of financial innovation in Hong Kong. Participants presented creative solutions in areas such as tokenized deposits, green bonds, programmable payments, liquidity enhancement, and integration with the Faster Payment System (FPS).

Champion Project – HSUHK Team

The HSUHK champion team impressed the judges with RealtySense, a pioneering blockchain-powered platform that transforms distressed and foreclosed properties into fractional Real World Asset (RWA) tokens.
