Opening Ceremony of the Hong Kong Young Financial Planning Elite Challenge 2026

“You do not need a lot of money to start. What you need is to start.” That message captured the spirit of the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Young Financial Planning Elite Challenge 2026, a competition designed to promote the importance of financial planning and help the next generation build practical financial knowledge from an early stage.

Bringing together Professor Louis Cheng, Dr Paris Yeung, Dr Elaine Shiu, and Dr Kaz Kwok, the ceremony went beyond a formal launch. It gave students a first-hand introduction to core financial planning concepts — from setting savings goals and building disciplined habits to understanding risk, resisting impulsive consumption and guarding against scams.

The session also walked participants through the competition details and judging framework, underscoring the challenge’s emphasis on clear, educational, creative and action-oriented communication.

More importantly, the ceremony positioned financial planning as a lifelong capability — one that empowers young people to make informed choices and take ownership of their future.
