SBUS Supports IGNITE18 – A Youth Development Initiative, Delivering Career Guidance Workshops to Secondary School Students

The School of Business (SBUS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong recently supported and participated in “IGNITE18: Jumpstart Your Career”, a youth development initiative organised by the FutureGen Youth Foundation. Mr Ricky Lam, Associate Dean (Enterprise and Business Engagement) of SBUS, led three interactive workshops to support secondary school students in career exploration and tertiary study planning.

The IGNITE18 programme is a territory-wide initiative dedicated to helping secondary school students with career and life planning, while strengthening Hong Kong’s future talent pipeline across a wide range of industries. The events were held sequentially across the New Territories (3 July), Kowloon (8 July), and Hong Kong Island (9 July). Over the next two academic years, the full initiative will expand to all 18 districts in Hong Kong. Each half-day session attracted approximately 1,000 to 1,500 participants, including students, parents and teachers. Programme highlights included inspirational talks, interactive workshops, and immersive career exploration experiences.

Across the three workshops, Mr Lam provided a comprehensive overview of SBUS and introduced the diverse career pathways available to business graduates. Students also gained practical guidance on how to nurture their academic interests and translate them into sustainable career directions in Hong Kong’s fast-evolving business landscape.

SBUS remains committed to nurturing future-ready business talent and strengthening its connection with the local secondary school community. SBUS will continue to participate in youth development initiatives to empower the next generation and support the growth of Hong Kong’s talent ecosystem.
