Shaping the Future of Business Education: Strategic Updates from SBUS

We recently held our 1st School Advisory Committee Meeting for the AY 2026/27. Together with industry leaders, we reviewed our exciting progress in transforming the Business School and executing our Vision 2030 to become a leading, distinctive international business school in Asia.

To keep our community updated, here is a quick look at how we are moving forward, focusing on strategic growth, student success, and future-ready education.

Key Progress & Strategic Highlights

Growth & Campus Expansion

We now proudly represent about 55% of the University’s student body. To support this rapid growth, the University has expanded our footprint with new facilities in Shek Mun and are actively developing executive and postgraduate activities at M+ in the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Student Placements & Mentorship

Our mandatory “Be-Ready” framework is thriving. Thanks to direct nominations with top-tier corporate partners, we secured over 200 new corporate placements this past summer, including roles within the Big Four and the SFC. We are also expanding our global reach with regional opportunities in Shanghai, Europe, and Australia.

Agile & Distinctive Curriculum

To stay ahead of fast-changing market trends, we are exploring agile micro-credentials. We are also developing specialized, interdisciplinary programmes in high-demand niche areas such as Luxury Brand Management, Private Wealth, and Family Office Advisory.

Human-Centric Skills in the AI Era

As routine tasks become automated, we are actively evolving our curriculum to ensure our students balance AI and FinTech technical literacy with irreplaceable soft skills. We place a strong emphasis on embedding critical thinking, commercial awareness, and human-centered leadership across our modules.

Looking Ahead

As our Advisory Committee Chair, Mr. Joe Ngai, aptly noted during the meeting: “While artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship are widely adopted themes among business schools, we must identify a clear and defensible competitive advantage rather than replicate established universities.”

By heeding this advice, deepening our industry partnerships and focusing on specialised, high-demand expertise, we are ensuring our graduates possess a true competitive advantage in the modern workforce.

A sincere thank you to our Advisory Committee for their invaluable guidance. We look forward to sharing more milestones with you as we continue to shape the future of business education!
