SBUS Study Trip to Tokyo, Japan

In June 2025, a dynamic group of 17 students and 2 faculty members from the School of Business embarked on a transformative 5-day study tour to Tokyo, Japan, focusing on cultural immersion and a deep exploration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and technological initiatives. Over five days, participants engaged with Japan’s innovative business landscape and cutting-edge technology.
The journey began at Sophia University, where students explored progressive educational practices and discussed potential avenues for academic collaboration. At the Shibaura Water Reclamation Center, they learned about sustainable water management solutions, underscoring the vital role of environmental stewardship in urban settings. A standout experience was the immersive visit to teamLab Planets, where art, technology, and nature converged to inspire creativity and innovative thinking. Participants also enjoyed a business executive dinner with seasoned business leaders from Ghibli Studio Japan, LyondellBasell, Linklaters, Victoria 1842, and Klickpoints, gaining invaluable insights into the local business climate and sustainability efforts.
Additional visits to the NTT History Center of Technologies, Tokyo Skytree Town Campus of Chiba Institute of Technology, Ghibli Museum Mikata, Canon Eco Tech Park, and Ginza Sony Park further enriched the participants’ understanding of Japan’s pioneering industrial and technological initiatives. This study tour not only enhanced cross-cultural awareness but also equipped participants with the adaptability and global perspective essential for thriving in an interconnected world.
