Programme Objective
The BBA (Honours) in Finance and Banking aims at providing students with the necessary skills and professional knowledge for developing the career in financial and banking management positions or pursuing further studies at postgraduate level. Upon completion of BBA (Honours) in FB, graduates are well equipped with both qualitative and quantitative knowledge in positioning themselves at business and government sectors.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Programme, students should be able to:
- address professional and personal challenges through the application of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary knowledge acquired;
- possess effective communication ability in a business environment, work as team players to integrate effectively the skills and knowledge developed, and manage independent lifelong learning;
- evaluate own contributions and responsibilities in becoming responsible employees, business leaders and business partners;
- possess broad horizons and be inquisitive about various global issues and developments such as politics, cultures, social sciences and technologies;
- have a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge in finance and banking and related areas in the first two years of studies, on which to build further studies; and
- acquire a broader knowledge relating to advanced concepts in finance and banking in the final two years and apply such knowledge to practical situations.

Admission
- Undergraduate – Year 1 Entry
HKDSE: Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language, Level 2 or above in Mathematics, Liberal Studies and one other subject in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination
- Undergraduate – Year 3 Entry
Minimum Entry Requirements:
– Completed an Associate Degree or Higher Diploma in a related discipline from a recognised institution in Hong Kong or overseas; and
– A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or equivalent
Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for graduation with the award of the BBA-FB degree, students must have fulfilled both academic and non-academic graduation requirements.
Academic Graduation Requirements:
- obtained a Grade D or above on at least 40 modules (120 credits), including all core modules
- obtained a CGPA of at least 2.0
- passed the Information Technology Proficiency Test
- fulfilled the language competency exit requirements:

Attempt the IELTS (Academic) Test to attain a score of 6.0 or above | Attempt the Putonghua Proficiency Test (普通話水平測試) to attain the level of “Third Class Grade B” (三級乙等) or above |
Students who fail to meet this requirement have to take and pass *ENG4000 English Proficiency Course, a 14-week (42 contact hours) non-credit bearing course, at their own cost to make up for the exit requirement. | Students who fail to meet this requirement have to take and pass *CHN4000 Putonghua Oral Training Enhancement Course, a 7-week (42 contact hours) non-credit bearing course, at their own cost to make up for the exit requirement. |
*ENG4000 and CHN4000 are NOT alternative arrangements for IELTS or PSC. Only Year-4 students who have attempted IELTS/PSC at least once before can enrol in respective enhancement course.
Students are required to fulfill the Information Technology requirements during their studies at the University. Students should refer to the website of the IT Learning Centre for the details of the relevant policy and scope of programmes offered to students.
Non-Academic Graduation Requirements:
To echo with the University’s “Desired Graduate Attributes – iGPS”, a new framework of iGPS Unit and College Assembly – HSUHK Liberal Agora is set to enhance the atmosphere of holistic learning and student development.
What is iGPS Unit?
iGPS unit is equivalent to voluntary participation in a non-credit bearing co-curricular activity or event, which is not a course requirement, in relation to the development of iGPS.
