HSMC’s BBA (Honours) in Corporate Governance and BBA (Honours) (with Accounting Concentration) obtained exemption approval from Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS). HKICS’s International Qualifying Scheme covers eight subjects. Candidates successfully completed the Scheme, with relevant work experience, are eligible to apply for HKICS membership and become Associate Chartered Secretaries (ACS). This is a portable global qualification, covering subjects such as corporate governance; corporate administration; corporate secretaryship; company law, accounting, taxation and management. In late 2013, the Department of Accountancy joined the programme of Oracle Academy. According to this Oracle Academy programme, Oracle Systems Hong Kong Limited will deliver a full set of Oracle E-Business Suite (an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system) with 100 student licenses to our department for education purpose. This full set of ERP system is worth about HK$ 7.5 million. As the Oracle E-Business Suite is widely used by the business sector, this provides an excellent opportunity for our students to learn how to use the software. In order to enhance students’ internship skills, a series of Kingdee KIS Accounting workshops was held from October to November 2013. These workshops were organised by the Department of Accountancy and supported by Kingdee International Software Group (HK) Ltd. Kingdee KIS Accounting provides one-stop business management functions, including financial accounting, purchase, sales and inventory management.
