Fintech Symposium: Disruptive Innovation in Financial Services

The Department of Economics and Finance, with support from the Executive Development Centre and the Research Institute for Business, hosted the HSMC Fintech Symposium 2018 on 10 August. The symposium successfully attracted more than 200 participants to discuss and exchange intellectual ideas on this game changer. It also aligned with the direction to develop Hong Kong as the major Fintech hub. The ideas exchange could definitely provide inspiration and insight for further research activities and collaboration between the academia and the industry.

 

The symposium commenced with a welcome message by Professor Bradley R Barnes, Dean of School of Business, and an opening remark by Professor Simon S M Ho, President of Hang Seng Management College. It was followed by a souvenir presentation by Dr David Chui, Head of Department of Economics and Finance, to thank the speakers and panellists for their contributions.

 

Eight distinguished speakers with the background of academics, creative entrepreneurs, visionary industrial experts and forward-looking policymakers presented their topics with the theme of Fintech. The symposium ended with a panel discussion session to encourage idea exchange between the panellists and the participants.
