The Department of Marketing, along with the School of Communication, hosted an international marketing symposium “Word of Web and Digital Marketing in the Chinese Context” on 25-26 July. Following President Simon Ho’s opening speech in the morning of 25 July, eighteen distinguished local and international speakers (including Prof Minxue Huang from Wuhan University, Prof Rui Chen from Xiamen University, and Prof Li Huang from Hofstra University) took turns to share cutting-edge knowledge and good practices in various aspects of digital marketing.
The afternoon of 26 July featured senior executives and seasoned entrepreneurs from a wide range of industries (including advertising, information technology, and logistics). During the two-day event, participants gained insights from inspiring presentations and networked with scholars and practitioners in related fields. To advance scholarship, Dr Morgan Yang and Dr Haksin Chan of the Department of Marketing will co-edit a 2020 special issue on the symposium theme for Journal of Global Marketing. Overall, the international marketing symposium was a success, drawing over a hundred scholars and executives (from 40-plus institutions) as well as HSUHK staff and students. It will pave the way for long-term collaboration between HSUHK and strategic partners in business and academia.
