In order to enhance students’ exposure to the business environment in Mainland China, the Department of Accountancy organised our first cross-border visit on 22 August 2014 (Friday). 25 students and 8 teachers joined this one-day tour to Shenzhen.
In the morning session, we visited the headquarter – cum – software park of Kingdee International Software Group Limited in Nanshan High-tech Industrial Park, Shenzhen. With the guidance of Kingdee’s staff, we learnt Kingdee’s development history in its mega showroom, understood its software development processes and visited its in-house data centre. All of us also attended a seminar with the topic of Accounting Reform and Development in China.
In the afternoon session, we visited the Shenzhen Museum of Tax History and Culture. This museum was found and opened to the public since 2010, and it is the only tax-related museum in Guangdong province. The museum guides introduced to us antique coins and measuring instruments, tax documents and tax payment vouchers, from Warring States period to 1960s. We had better understanding of the Chinese tax history and development, from ancient to modern, in a fast track mode.
