  • Elderly Financial Literacy Workshop 跨代理財嘉年華 2025

The theme for Hong Kong Money Month 2025 is Guard Against Fraud   Thrive With Resilience. With the rise of digital technology and the popularity of social media, more and more people are spending their time engaging in online activities, such as banking and investing. Unfortunately, this increase in e-commerce and online investment has also led to a rise in fraudulent activities, as scammers seek opportunities to exploit victims. Being one of the supporting organisations of Hong Kong Money Month 2025, we are pleased to hold the Elderly Financial Literacy Workshop on March 25, 2025.

FIN1001 Personal Finance and the Society students participated in an engaging service-learning activity at the Kei Oi Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, aimed at raising public awareness about anti-financial scam measures and enhancing financial resilience among retirees. The atmosphere buzzed with joy as students and elderly participants connected through lively discussions, sharing laughter and insights while exploring essential financial concepts. The session began by assessing the retirees’ current financial situations, including their consumption patterns and financial goals, which set the stage for understanding the importance of sound financial management. Students emphasized the development of good investment habits and introduced various tools, such as the HKMC Retire 3 and Silver Bonds. They also highlighted common scams targeting the elderly and provided practical strategies to avoid falling victim to fraud. This collaborative effort not only empowered participants to navigate economic uncertainties but also fostered a sense of community, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of confidence in their financial futures.
