May 5 marked the end of the Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 – Marketing Proposal Competition, jointly organized by the Department of Marketing and the HKSAR Environmental Campaign Committee. Five student teams in the final round presented their marketing strategies designed to change the behavior of Hong Kong people on issues related to food waste, overpackaging and plastic waste. Their creativity and efforts were appreciated by the adjudication committee comprised of our professors as well as industry practitioners.
Before the competition, two seminars were held on 23 February and 11 March to enhance students’ understanding of the challenges that the government, the NGOs and the business community are facing in achieving the Climate Action 2050 goals. Mr Shek-ping LEUNG, Senior Environmental Protection Officer, Ms Natalie CHAN, Managing Director of the PIE Strategy Ltd., and Ms Vivien CHENG, Director of Community Partnership of The Green Earth, were the invited guest speakers at the seminars.
