Biography

Dr. Shuaiyi Liu graduated in 2016 from her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with Double Concentration in Finance and Applied Economics, First Class Honours and Beta Gamma Sigma membership. She was the student ambassador of HKBU, Netmission Ambassador in the Organizing Committee of the Youth Internet Governance Forum camp on 2014 Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum, Internal Vice President of Base of Youth Enlightenment, etc. She stood out from the crowd with her extraordinary leadership skills to be the recipient of a number of awards and scholarships for student leaders like Hong Kong Baptist University Outstanding Student Leaders Awards and Outstanding BBA Student Leader Scholarship. When participating in Citi-HKCSS Community Intern Program, Dr. Shuaiyi Liu was nominated to design and present a thank you card to representative of Citigroup on behalf of all the interns during the recognition ceremony. Dr. Shuaiyi Liu pursued a Ph.D. in Economics straight out of undergraduate before joining HSU. She demonstrated superior research skills as evidenced by her excellent performance in the oral defense when she received highly positive feedback from all the panel members. Caring, responsible and with the ability to break down, visualize as well as communicating technical concepts and theories in a digestible way, Dr. Shuaiyi Liu made very impressive achievements in tertiary teaching while students had great affinity for her. Besides research and teaching, Dr. Shuaiyi Liu was also passionately devoted to professional services. She was nominated and elected to be the student representative for research postgraduate students in the School Board. Dr. Shuaiyi Liu also gained relevant industry experience during her PhD studies by having a doctoral internship at Hong Kong Monetary Authority (Hong Kong Institute of Monetary and Financial Research) where she collaborated with senior researchers. Dr. Shuaiyi Liu is an all-round person. She possesses Level 11 Certificate in Performance issued by Shanghai Conservatory of Music for violin and Level 9 Certificate for Guzheng. She had been in the university table tennis team since her freshman year. While being an experienced Master of Ceremonies, she also got a Merit prize in the Tenth Hong Kong Inter-tertiary Institution Putonghua Recitation Contest.
