Biography Elaine Wang has a progressive HR career and leadership track record over 35 years with regional scope in Asia Pacific; global HR roles in the U.K. and the U.S.; and public service in Australia and New Zealand.  She has diverse industry background spanning banking, oil and gas, petrochemicals, and health sectors.   Previously, Elaine served as Senior Advisor, and Managing Director, Head of Human Resources at Hang Seng Bank for seven years, where she spearheaded the Bank’s strategic people agenda in business, digital and culture transformation.  She also held HR leadership roles in the HSBC Group for eight years, including Head of HR, Asia Pacific Retail Banking and Wealth Management; Head of Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence in Resourcing, Learning, Talent, and Organization Development; and Head of HR, HSBC China based in Shanghai. Prior to banking, Elaine worked for two oil majors Amoco and BP in HR leadership roles in Asia Pacific for sixteen years, with international assignments in London and Chicago.  In her early career, Elaine served the Health Departments of New South Wales, Australia; and New Zealand in workforce planning, policy and ministerial services. Elaine is a Founding Fellow of the Data Literacy Association in Hong Kong, dedicated to the cultivation of data-literate workforce and data-driven organizations.  She serves as an Advisor to the HEROCARE Program, Department of Health Technology and Informatics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  Additionally, she is a member of the Governance Review Sub-Committee and HR Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong University Graduate Association (HKUGA) College, and a Lecturer in Human Resources Management (HRM) at the Hong Kong Baptist University including research projects supervision. Elaine is a seasoned coach and mentor of students and professionals cross-disciplines in talent and leadership development, innovation projects and hackathons. Her teaching interests include strategic human resources management, organization development in change and transformation, data literacy in the digital and data economy, and future skills in the transforming world of work.
