Guest lecture on Tax Audit in Hong Kong was organized by the Department of Accountancy on 16 February 2017. Mr. Philip Hung, Director, Tax Controversy Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong was invited to deliver a guest lecture on “Tax Audit in Hong Kong”.
In the guest lecture, Mr. Philip Hung introduced the structure of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and its Field Audit and Tax Investigation Unit. He then explained the selection criteria for tax audit, and gave recommendations for each step of the tax audit and the issuance of protective assessments. He also discussed the latest global tax environment and recent trends of tax investigation and audits making reference to The IRD Annual Report. Interesting real life examples were shared.
The guest lecture was successfully held with an attendance of more than 150 staff and students. Positive feedbacks were received, for instance, Mr. Hung provided professional knowledge about tax audit and different real cases which helped the students understand easily.
