The Department of Accountancy organized “Lecture for ACY3103 cum Networking with Tutors #4” on 23 February. We invited Dr. Brian Lo, Adjunct Associate Professor from Open University of Hong Kong, to deliver a lecture on “Company Secretary’s Role”. In addition, Dr. Lo was invited again to deliver another lecture on “Notifiable Transactions and Connected Transactions” on 2 March.
On 23 February, Dr. Lo introduced different types of shares, shared related transactions (“transactions”) and company secretaries’ duties on these transactions.
The networking with tutors session began right after the lecture on 23 February. We had the honor to ask Dr. Lo to stay behind, provide guidance and share his experience with our students on their career planning in corporate governance. Then, personal tutors from the Department of Accountancy met their tutees and answered students’ questions on both personal development and career planning.
On 2 March, Dr. Lo introduced different types of notifiable transactions and connected transactions in his second lecture given to our students. Dr. Lo also taught our students the various calculations applied to identify different types of notifiable transactions and connected transactions.
Lecture for ACY3103 cum Networking with Tutors #4 was successfully held with an attendance record of more than 60 staff members and students. We received positive feedbacks from students. Our students generally appreciated this valuable opportunity to learn from and chat with Dr. Lo, who is an experienced company secretary for 30 years.
