After much touching-base on both sides, the collaboration of the Department of Economics and Finance and Singapore Exchange has finally borne fruit to the first series of the “Train-the-trainer” Program.
In the midst of the seminar
20 students majoring in Banking & Finance and Financial Analysis will be led by 5 faculty staff members from the Department of Economics and Finance and Department of Accountancy in a mock pitch after the first series.
The seminar was conducted through webinar
The topic of the current series is “Singapore Securities & Derivatives Overview & Sector Highlights.” Delivered by Mr David Mok and Mr Chua I-Min in Singapore, the seminar was conducted through webinar, prompting direct exchange between the practitioners and students.

Speakers’ Profile
David Mok, CFA
David Mok, an SGX Academy Trainer and CFA, comes with an interesting breadth of experience of the buy side, sell side and distribution. He has globe-trotted from Asia to Europe and the U.S., providing institutional clients investment advice on the Singapore and Asian Markets. Currently, he heads the fund management services at IPP Financial Advisers that distributes mutual funds and insurance products and its assets under advisory are over US$1 billion.
Prior to IPPFA, David led the Trading and Principal Investment unit at CIMB-GK Securities. Instruments traded included equities, derivatives, CFDs, futures, money market across the Asia-ex-Japan markets. David also used to head the Singapore Equity Research at DBS Vickers Securities and helped to manage over US$1 billion fund at Asia Life Insurance. During his work in the U.S., David was involved in the management of a US$300m asset management company.
David has been interviewed and quoted by major business media, including The Business Times, The Straits Times, Channel News Asia and Asian Wall Street Journal. David obtained his MBA at Smith School of Business in University of Maryland and is a CFA Charterholder.
Chua I-Min, CFA
Chua I-Min, an SGX Academy Trainer and CFA, is the Lead Instructor for Investor Education with A.B. Maximus & Co. Pte. Ltd. He conducts regular classes for SGX Academy in fundamental analysis, stock valuation, REITs and property stocks investments. His flagship program titled “Create a Secondary Income Stream through Long Term Share Investing” has been well received by retail investors. A book with the same title has been written to reach out to a wider audience.
Professionally, I-Min has more than 11 years of working experience mainly in the investment industry. He was the Chief Operating Officer for A.B. Maximus before his current role. Previously as a real estate investment professional in Capitaland and subsequently PhillipCapital, he had collectively done investment deals amounting to S$250 million. Prior to that, he was based in China, participating in a successful IPO exercise of a Chinese company listed on the Singapore Exchange.
