The annual Executive Mentorship Programme of the Department of Management commenced on 11 November 2023. We were delighted to have the continuous support of five successful practitioners serving as our mentors and generously sharing their professional insights with our students.     To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Department of Management organized a delightful Chill Cub Meal on 22 September 2023. The event provided students with a warm blessing for the new semester start by featuring off-campus roasted pork and catering. Nearly 40 students and teachers gathered to enjoy the meal and cherished the opportunity to interact with each other. In addition to the delicious meal, traditional festival delicacies such as Mooncakes and pomelo were also prepared for students’ enjoyment.     On 9 September 2023, as part of the Management League, an interesting sports event titled “極限突破 – 管理魂激發” was successfully organized. The event commenced with an ice-breaking session, bringing together 40 students from BBA-MGT, BBA-HRM & BBA-GBM programmes and teachers. The participants formed teams of 5 to 6 members each and engaged in a series of exciting activities inspired by the popular Korean TV program “Running Man,” including Ballon Stomps, Cup Stacking, and Fitness Challenge.     Ms Cynthia Leung, a Certified Wine Educator, shared professional wine knowledge with participants during the workshop. In the summer of 2023, the Department of Management hosted the 3rd Management League, including a Business Etiquette Workshop for Wine Tasting and a sports event called “極限突破 – 管理魂激發”. In the Wine Tasting Workshop, Ms Cynthia Leung, a Certified Wine Educator, provided our students and teachers with a comprehensive understanding of business etiquette in wine tasting.     To provide potential students with a deeper understanding of the concept of management, the Department organized a taster workshop at the School Gala held on 24 June 2023. We were delighted to have 40 secondary students from local schools to “taste” management in game playing. Before the start of the games, Dr Sally Cheung, the host of the workshop, introduced fundamental concepts within the discipline. The teenagers had the opportunity to apply the concepts they learned in group games afterwards.     All of us had a joyful evening of entertainment, food,drinks, and chit-chat with each other. It was a memorable celebration marking the end of the semester. The Department of Management hosted the Chill Club Meal on 5 May 2023. We treat our students with delightful Chinese stewed soup and catering as a boost and encouragement before exams.     The Department of Management facilitated several job-hunting activities to assist students in standing out during the job search season. The series started with a sharing session on 4 April 2023 by Ms Ariel So, a BBA-MGT alumnus and an HR professional from AlphaSights. Under the moderation of our host Mr Anthony Yeung from BBA-MGT Year 4, our guest shared her experiences as a recent graduate from Management, tips on job seeking and on how to build a competitive LinkedIn profile.     To celebrate students’ outstanding academic achievement in the second semester of the Academic Year 2021/22, the department organized the first Student Excellence Award Ceremony on 5 November 2022.  We were delighted to have 9 students from MGT & GBM achieving cGPA 3.6 or above in the semester. As a recognition, every awardee was awarded a certificate and a voucher. During the ceremony, awardees of the Chibs Future Leaders Scholarship and Bursary were invited to meet Dr. Rajeev Chibs, the donor, who is also one of the Lecturers in the department. Under the theme of ‘Challenges and Opportunities of International Business: Hong Kong and Beyond’, the department invited experienced scholars and practitioners from different industries to share in-depth stories and insights about international brands and the global market in the metropolis.     As a part of the Management League activity, the Diversify MGT/ HRM/ GBM was successfully held on 19 Aug 2022. 37 students and academic staff formed three teams, representing MGT, HRM and GBM, and competed for championship via a series of fun and inspiring activities (e.g, Intelligent Challenge, Team Building Games, Campus Run, and Fitness Challenge). With everyone passionately contributed to their team, all three teams had impressive performance across different activities.
