  • Hong Kong’s Action on Salt and Sugar Reduction (HKASSR) was a one-year project carried out by the Department of Marketing, commissioned by the former Food and Health Bureau (presently the Environment and Ecology Bureau, EEB). To review the project’s achievements and recognize our students’ efforts and contribution, a Student Ambassador Recognition Ceremony was held on 24 August, with three EEB officials invited as award-presenting guests.    Targeting at the young generations, the HKASSR aims at nurturing a healthy diet culture of less-salt-and-sugar (LSS), which is the key to the prevention of chronic diseases.     During the Business School Gala Week of 2022, the Department of Marketing hosted an event entitled “A Marketing Perspective: Retail Vitality and Consumer Health” on 27 June engaging over 80 industry representatives from both private and public sectors.   Dr Kenneth KWONG (Assistant Professor) presented the results of the survey conducted in the retail and catering industry, with updates on the latest research findings about the industry and suggestions on how consumer health can be promoted through research.  The highlight of the event was students’ experience sharing, led by Dr Winnie Chan, on  insights they gained from participating in international competitions… Read more...
    May 5 marked the end of the Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 – Marketing Proposal Competition, jointly organized by the Department of Marketing and the HKSAR Environmental Campaign Committee. Five student teams in the final round presented their marketing strategies designed to change the behavior of Hong Kong people on issues related to food waste, overpackaging and plastic waste. Their creativity and efforts were appreciated by the adjudication committee comprised of our professors as well as industry practitioners.     On 27 January 2022, the Department of Marketing held the Kick-off Ceremony of the Alumni Mentorship Program, which aims at connecting our students and alumni and giving guidance to students on learning and career planning. Over 30 mentors and 50 mentees participated in the scheme, which shows a strong bonding between alumni and their alma mater.     On 11 November 2021, Mr Tung-keung Chiang , the Managing Director of CLP Power Hong Kong, shared with our students his experience and strategy in management, especially how to incorporate advanced technology and modern ideas into traditional business operations, so as to cater future needs and be a responsible energy supplier.     The HKACEP x HSUHK Marketing Promotion Proposal Competition was jointly organized by the Department of Marketing and The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.  On 27 September 2021, a briefing event was held with guest speakers Mr Kam-po WONG, former representative of Hong Kong Cycling Team, Mr Kenneth CHIU, Hong Kong’s first professional baseball player, and Mr David SO, Manager of HKACEP.  This star-studded event attracted over 100 teachers and students to participate.  Our guests shared their sports career as well as transformation and continuous education in the 2nd phase of their career.     A CEO Talk entitled “Marketing Communications and Creative Entrepreneurial Opportunities” was held on 1 December 2020, featuring three digital marketing experts— Founder of CheckCheckCin (Ms. Cinci Leung), Senior Vice President of Warner Music Asia (Mr. Darren Ho), and CEO & Founder of OilDiva and Oilbook (Ms. Fiona Lui). The speakers shared their extensive experience in managing prominent brands like Warner Music and their entrepreneurial journeys in successfully establishing brands like CheckCheckCin and OilDiva.
