ACY Symposium – Enhancing Financial Reporting and Transparency: Navigating the Revised Corporate Governance Code

We are pleased to report on the successful conclusion of the ACY Symposium titled “Enhancing Financial Reporting and Transparency: Navigating the Revised Corporate Governance Code” held on 24 April 2025 by the Department of Accountancy at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK).

The symposium featured keynote addresses from Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, who spoke on “Governance and Sustainability,” and Ms. Janey Lai, CEO of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC), who delivered a compelling presentation on “Enhancing Governance and Transparency in Financial Reporting.”

Two dynamic panel discussions engaged participants deeply on the practical implications and future outlook of the revised Corporate Governance Code, which will take effect on 1 July 2025.

The first panel, moderated by Mr. Michael Li, focused on “Implementing the Revised Corporate Governance Code: Challenges, Best Practices, and the Future of Corporate Accountability in Hong Kong,” featuring experts Dr. Eva Chan, Mr. Cyrus Cheung, Ms. Melissa Fung, and Mr. Jacky Lai.

The second panel, moderated by Mr. Ambrose Ting, explored “Adapting to the New Corporate Governance Landscape: Insights and Strategies for Hong Kong’s Future,” with contributions from Mr. Mohan Datwani, Ms. Julianne Doe, Ms. Alva Lee, Mr. Roy Lo, and Ms. Karen Ngai.

This symposium provided a timely platform for industry leaders, regulators, academics, and practitioners to exchange knowledge and prepare for the significant governance reforms ahead. We thank all speakers, panelists, and participants for their contributions to this important conversation on strengthening financial reporting and corporate transparency in Hong Kong.
