  • The Professional Bodies Briefing Session 2019 – Series 1 was successfully held on 3 October 2019 with an aim to provide students with the latest information on the professional bodies and their respective qualifications. In this series, FOUR professional bodies from accounting and taxation fields were invited to introduce their institutes and professional qualification requirements to students.     The Department of Accountancy (the Department ) hosted the AC.CG Reception cum Alumni Homecoming Cocktail 2019 on 6 September 2019 for all students from BBA (with Accounting Concentration), BBA in Corporate Governance, BBA in Corporate Governance and Compliance, and BBA in Professional Accountancy. As a kick-off event of the Department in the new academic year. The AC.CG Reception aimed to provide students with information related to their studies and future career development and helped them be better prepared for the new academic year.     Programme Orientations were successfully held on 20 August 2019 for freshmen in BBA (with Accounting Concentration) (BBA-ACC), BBA in Corporate Governance and Compliance (BBA-CGC), and BBA in Professional Accountancy (BBA-PA), as a part of HSUHK Student Orientation Day 2019. During the event, freshmen met our faculty members and other senior students and were introduced to the curriculum and graduation requirements of their respective programmes. Besides, students were encouraged to proactively participate in events and competitions organised by various professional bodies such as HKICS Student Ambassadors Programme, HKICPA Business Case Competition, TIHK Tax Debate Competition and so forth.     HSUHK Team, HANaGirl won the first runner-up award in the LEGO® BRICKthrough Challenge, Trophy and prize were awarded on 28 June 2019. The objective of the competition is to redefine LEGO®’s business strategy, contestants should come up with a 3-year business strategy targeting the “0-14 years old girls”, let LEGO® become a more female-friendly brand in Hong Kong. It provided great opportunities for them to obtain hands-on experience in marketing and advertising.     Department of Accountancy of HSUHK was grateful to receive Multiable Company’s software donation in-kind, which worth more than HK$540,000, for supporting teaching and learning activities in the module “ACY4009 Enterprise Resource Planning Systems for Accounting”. The donation includes user licenses and corresponding services for one year for Multiable M18 Cloud-based ERP System, which consists of finance module, logistics module, product assembly module, collaboration module as well as business intelligence system.     HSUHK Consultation Day was successfully held on 15 June 2019. The Department of Accountancy held a broad variety of activities which attended by numerous students and parents. Exhibition booth was set up to provide visitors with the latest information about BBA (Hons) in Corporate Governance and Compliance (BBA-CGC) and BBA (Hons) in Professional Accountancy (BBA-PA).     The Department of Accountancy organised Research Training Workshop (“workshop”) on 2 and 3 May 2019 and invited Professor In-Mu Haw as trainer. On the first day of the workshop, Professor Haw shared his most recent research project with the participants. On the second day, participants attended a round-table discussion and shared important tips for publication.
